How to use Quick Search in Pricefinder

Quick Search is the global search bar at the top of the Pricefinder interface. It lets you find a property quickly by address, street or suburb without going through the full Property Search form.

Important points to be noted:

  • The Quick Search bar placeholder reads "Search by address, street, suburb or property id".
  • As you type, an autocomplete list shows matching results from all Australian states at once when your Quick Search Region is set to Country (the default).
  • The same suburb or street name can appear in several states and postcodes - always confirm the state and postcode before selecting a result.
  • Quick Search is for finding one known property fast. For filtered searches (property type, price, land size, etc.), use the full Property Search form.

How to use Quick Search

Please follow the below mentioned steps to search using Quick Search:

  1. Locate the Quick Search bar at the top of the page.

  2. Begin typing an address, street name or suburb. An autocomplete list appears. For example, typing Richmond returns matches across multiple states - QLD, SA, TAS, NSW and VIC - each with its own postcode.

  3. Check the state and postcode on the result before you select it, so you open the correct property. The same name in a different state will open a different location.

Why this matters: The same suburb or street name can exist in several states. Selecting the wrong entry opens results for the wrong location.

Quick Search Region setting

The autocomplete scope is controlled by your Quick Search Region setting, found in User Details -> Edit User -> Default Settings:

  • Country (default) - autocomplete spans all Australian states at once.
  • State - autocomplete is limited to the state currently selected in the left panel.

If you are getting unexpected suburb suggestions from other states, check this setting.
